Entertainment was a key part of the prisoners life to fight boredom. the most popular indoor games were bridge and chess, and many tournaments were arranged for the prisoners entertainment. The most common out-door games played were basketball, volleyball, circles or deck tennis.
Concert party
The Changi concert party played a vital role in the life of all the prisoners.Every Sunday the solders would perform musicals and serious drama performances as well as this they presented a 30 piece orchestra for fellow prisoners.
Football
Changi's prisoners of war camp persuaded the Japanese to let them create a a six team football competition. They used rubber trees as goal posts whilst they captured wild pigs to provide boot leather footballs.
Education
An education service began at Changi which transformed its name from Changi prison to Changi university. There were a variety of classes offered such as agriculture, business, foreign languages, engineering, law, medicine and science were started. The Japanese cracked down on the happiness of the prisoners because of their right to education, but shockingly allowed the 'university' to continue.

The joining fee was one book and no further charge. The number of books which had been brought up from Changi was incredible, with a book that suited every literary life style.
